Terms of Service

1. What PayOneTable is

PayOneTable helps the person paying a shared bill work out what everyone owes — it reads receipts, splits items, and distributes tax, fees and tip. PayOneTable is a calculator, not a payment processor. We never move, hold, request or transfer money between you and anyone else. How people settle up is entirely up to you.

2. Accounts

You need an account to use the Service. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your login credentials secure, and accept responsibility for activity on your account. You must be at least 16 years old. Notify us at contact@payonetable.com if you suspect unauthorized use.

3. AI receipt scanning & accuracy

Receipt scanning uses automated AI vision. It can misread items, prices, taxes or fees. You are responsible for reviewing and correcting every split before relying on it — the Service shows you the extracted items and flags totals that don't match the receipt for exactly this reason. Amounts produced by the Service are for convenience only and are not financial, tax or accounting advice.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to upload content you have no right to;
• attempt to bypass scan limits, rate limits, authentication or security controls;
• scrape, resell, or build a competing dataset from the Service;
• upload images that aren't your own receipts, or that contain others' data without permission;
• interfere with or place an unreasonable load on our infrastructure.

We use automated rate limiting and abuse protection. Excessive or abusive usage may be throttled or suspended.

5. Subscriptions & billing

The free tier is free forever. Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through our payment provider, Stripe, and renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from your account's billing portal; your plan stays active until the end of the current period. Prices may change with reasonable advance notice. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable for partial periods.

6. Your content & data

You keep ownership of the content you add — receipt photos, item names, the names you type for people, and split details. You grant us a limited licence to process and store that content solely to provide the Service (including sending receipt images to our AI provider to extract items). How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Cancellation & deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Account → Delete account. This permanently erases your profile, every saved split and every stored receipt photo. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe are abusing the Service.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design and branding, belongs to PayOneTable and is protected by law. These Terms don't grant you any right to our trademarks or to copy or reverse-engineer the Service.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don't warrant that calculations are error-free or that the Service will be uninterrupted. You are responsible for verifying amounts before settling up.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PayOneTable will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any amounts exceeding what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
